The Lemperle Residence in La Jolla, California is a pie-shaped contemporary house designed by architect Jonathan Segal. One of Segal’s main purposes is to promote an outdoor connection and he does this well by using expansive deck areas, and large glass walls and doors. All the rooms are directed towards the ocean through vertical and horizontal planes, which at the same time, provide some privacy from the neighbors. Natural light is streaming in through the glass walls. Power comes from the solar panels installed. The whole structure is built with steel, concrete, glass and walnut.
